Gluten-free Girl book giveaway!

I was going to have a recipe for Mandelbrot for you today, but the recipe I was working on isn't working out. I will keep trying, because I'm craving those little, crunchy, little cookies. For the weekend, though, I'll give one of you a book. And there's a good chance I'll throw in some cookies too.

Do you not have this book? Shame on you! Shauna's book takes the fear out of being gluten-free. She gently reminds you that while you're missing out on gluten, you aren't really missing out on anything. I wish this book had been out when I first went gluten-free, it might have eased that first few months of panic "oh my god I can't eat anything I'm so depressed what do I do". Her blog, Gluten Free Girl, is wonderful. I've been an avid reader since I discovered it a few years ago. Shauna is inspiring. Her writing is beautiful, and the book is filled with recipes (great ones). It sounds a little like a self-help book to those of you who haven't read it, and it might be. But not in a bad way. Her book is calming. I love it. I can't wait til her new one comes out.

Leave me a comment, I'll pick a winner on Wed, the 11th.

  8. I've been gluten free since November and I feel 100% better! I found Gluten-free Girl's blog and also enjoy her writing style. I do not have her book, but would like to add it to my growing library of GF cookbooks. I also love Rebecca Reilly's Gluten Free Baking. It has an amazing banana bread (Eleanor's Banana Bread) and the mint brownies are fab! I just found your blog today and can't wait to try your recipes too.

My boyfriend was diagnosed with a wheat allergy earlier this year and has been finding it extremely hard to adapt. I've been following your blog since just before Valentine's day, and I've already tried some of your recipes for him, and he's loved them!

I would love to read this book, if you would ship to Canada. I think it would help him, and myself adapt to the change.

  13. I have three copies of this book, I should do a give away as well. It is wonderful, her blog is great. But Jill Elise, I have to tell you, your recipes are fantastic! Everything I have tried, I will make again. Most recently I made your potato latkes (the fried version) and I could not believe how great they were. I am making the pulled pork next week. Your every bit as talented!

Love her blog--and yours, too! I just made your pie crust recipe today for the fourth time (cherry pie for desert!). It's so awesome! You help make it easy for me to cook for two people I love: my 8-year-old son with multiple food allergies (the vegan aspect of your recipes is perfect for his egg/dairy allergies!), and my sister-in-law, a newly diagnosed celiac who is also five months pregnant with a surprise baby No. 3! Thanks for your inspiration!

  28. My mom discovered she was a celiac a while ago, and always laments about the things she can't eat anymore. I want to support her more, but I think I'm addicted to bread. I would love to give this to her as a present, it would be great to put something in her hands instead of sending her emails. Hard to do when you're across the world :)
