Do you not have this book? Shame on you! Shauna's book takes the fear out of being gluten-free. She gently reminds you that while you're missing out on gluten, you aren't really missing out on anything. I wish this book had been out when I first went gluten-free, it might have eased that first few months of panic "oh my god I can't eat anything I'm so depressed what do I do". Her blog, Gluten Free Girl, is wonderful. I've been an avid reader since I discovered it a few years ago. Shauna is inspiring. Her writing is beautiful, and the book is filled with recipes (great ones). It sounds a little like a self-help book to those of you who haven't read it, and it might be. But not in a bad way. Her book is calming. I love it. I can't wait til her new one comes out.
Leave me a comment, I'll pick a winner on Wed, the 11th.
Oh, I've wanted to read her book!
ReplyDeleteCool, I want to be in the running.
ReplyDeleteI'm ashamed I haven't read this being such a fan of her blog!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy Shauna's blog and would love to read her book. Count me in!
ReplyDeleteI've lived in denial about being celiac long enough and have started today to go fully gluten-free. I would love to read Shauna's book, I can use all the inspiration I can get!
ReplyDeleteI'm so gonna add that blog to my list ! Thanks :-)
ReplyDeleteI would love this book! My mom just went GF and I'd love to help her learn more quickly than I did. Thanks for your blog!
ReplyDeleteI've been gluten free since November and I feel 100% better! I found Gluten-free Girl's blog and also enjoy her writing style. I do not have her book, but would like to add it to my growing library of GF cookbooks. I also love Rebecca Reilly's Gluten Free Baking. It has an amazing banana bread (Eleanor's Banana Bread) and the mint brownies are fab! I just found your blog today and can't wait to try your recipes too.
ReplyDeleteI just recently had to go gluten free because of a wheat alergy. Some days I just want to cry, but it is getting better. I would love to read this book. I need something postive to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteWhile I may not eat gluten-free, I still really enjoy Shauna's blog, and would love to check out her book. I've heard many rave reviews about it!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend was diagnosed with a wheat allergy earlier this year and has been finding it extremely hard to adapt. I've been following your blog since just before Valentine's day, and I've already tried some of your recipes for him, and he's loved them!
ReplyDeleteI would love to read this book, if you would ship to Canada. I think it would help him, and myself adapt to the change.
I have never seen her book, and would love to get a quick glance at it before I pass it on to a new friend that was just DXed

I have three copies of this book, I should do a give away as well. It is wonderful, her blog is great. But Jill Elise, I have to tell you, your recipes are fantastic! Everything I have tried, I will make again. Most recently I made your potato latkes (the fried version) and I could not believe how great they were. I am making the pulled pork next week. Your every bit as talented!

I didn't know she had the book...and have her on my blog roll..bad me...
ReplyDeleteLOVE all your recipes...get rave reviews from my gluten eating family! And they ALL have worked. And I did attach your blog to those devilish peanut butter cookies...OH MY!
So keep up the good work and hopefully I'll make the cookbook win! smile

Your blog is wonderful as well! I have tried many of your recipes - and they have been well received by the rest of my family (who are not gluten free).

And thanks for the great GF cooking!

ReplyDelete(Found you through the gluten-free news aggregator, by the way.)
I love her book. We went gluten free at home about a month ago when my son was diagnosed with celiac.
ReplyDeleteI have been meaning to read this book for the longest time! I love Shauna's blog and her writing!
ReplyDeleteLove her blog--and yours, too! I just made your pie crust recipe today for the fourth time (cherry pie for desert!). It's so awesome! You help make it easy for me to cook for two people I love: my 8-year-old son with multiple food allergies (the vegan aspect of your recipes is perfect for his egg/dairy allergies!), and my sister-in-law, a newly diagnosed celiac who is also five months pregnant with a surprise baby No. 3! Thanks for your inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh my ! I would love the book! I have Chrohns Disease, celiac, to add to it all, I ust found out I am also allergic to egg, tuna and potato!! Hellllllllllpppppppp!! Keep up the great work Shauna! Thank you!

ReplyDeleteMy mom discovered she was a celiac a while ago, and always laments about the things she can't eat anymore. I want to support her more, but I think I'm addicted to bread. I would love to give this to her as a present, it would be great to put something in her hands instead of sending her emails. Hard to do when you're across the world :)
ReplyDeleteI was diagnosed with celiac about a month ago and it's been an interesting learning experience. I'd love to be able to read her book!
ReplyDeleteI'll join in and leave a comment here too. Now onto the cookie recipe... ;)
ReplyDeleteLove her, would love the book!
ReplyDeletewell, I can't really resist! My mom, my aunt, my grandfather, and I all found out we had gluten intolerances within the past few years. It's been interesting, to say the least :)
